The 2013 Sinquefield Cup begins today at the Chess Club & Scholastic Centre of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. The high-rated tourney in the history of US will take place from 9th till 15th of September featuring four best players in the world with an average FIDE rating of 2797. The participants are Grandmasters Magnus Carlsen & Levon Aronian (Top two players in the world) and the top two in the United States: Grandmasters Hikaru Nakamura & Gata Kamsky.
The four participants will play the classic time control (40moves in 90minutes with a 30seconds increment of moves one, followed by 30minutes for the rest of the game) in double round-robin.
The first round of the tourney will take place around 1pm CT (20:00 CET) where the four GMs will be competing for a total prize fund of $170,000 (129081 Euro) with $70,000 for the winner, $50,000 to the runner-up while the $30,000 & $20,000 will go to the 3rd and 4th places respectively.
