The Accelerated Dragon is one of the most aggressive chess opening variation of the Sicilian Defense that black can use in attacking the white King Pawn set-ups. The Accelerated Dragon was illustrated by Grand Master Eugene Perelshteyn. He anaylze the basic move orders, tactical and positional ideas of this chess opening variation for the black pieces.

The Accelerated Dragon, also known as Accelerated Fianchetto is a chess opening variation of the Sicilian Defence that begins with the moves:

1. e4 c5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. d4 cxd4
4. Nxd4 g6

The Accelerated Dragon features an early ...g6 by Black. An important difference between this line and the Dragon is that Black avoids playing ...pawn d6, so that he can later play ...d5 in one move, if possible.
